Which musician/group had the most promising debut album but went on to disappoint since?

I don't include dying prematurely (e.g. Aaliyah), I just mean not living up to their early promise: Tori Amos, Richard Marx, Chesney Hawkes spring to mind.
I guess we have to exclude one-hit wonders and count only people who managed at least one album.
I'm tempted to include Dream, you can all slag me all you like...

Interesting answers all - I think I will have to put it to a vote.

I forgot Guns'n' Roses.

Spice Girls is a fair call.

Personally I hate Oasis but others like them, "Morning Glory" was good enough. I think there's also a concept of getting off the stage when your time is up.
Korn, Chili Peppers and Nirvana, I hated from the start. Tastes vary.

I'm putting it to a vote - personally my choice would be Guns'n' Roses but noone said that.

I know Im gonna be hated for this but Id have to say lifehouse(well sort of).

the first album was really good. the second was actually pretty good too and their music matured but I guess some people werent ready for such a change.

however the third album wasnt so good(still had good songs but lacked what the first two had) and the fourth album so far isnt that much better.

they clearly had something in the beginning, but from the third album and after they just lacked that something...

I'm basing my answer on artists that had a great album early in their career, but I haven't really been able to listen to them since. First, Weezer's Blue album was a classic, but I haven't purchased or listened to an entire album of their's since then. I've downloaded a couple of songs here and there, but that's it. Same with Audioslave's first album. Really good, but nothing that good since . Korn has fallen off, also. Their first album is an underrated classic. "Follow the Leader" and "Untouchables" were very good, but all their other albums were marginal at best. The last one they did was so horrible I can't remember the name of it.
