in 30 days or go to jail why wont they do anything else I have friends who owe four hundred and they get put in jail until it is paid.Is there anything I can have done? I am not understanding this. I would like anyones opinion on it or ideas on what I should do.

IMO its because its a SHE and not a HE. Courts just dont crack down on the deadbeat moms who dont pay child support like they do the dads.
Also some states just arent as harsh as others. The consequences for not paying support vary wildly from state to state. In some states you will lose your license and go to jail for non payment, other states dont do a thing about it.
Since you are going to court, let the judge know that this is what happens. If you dont have an attorney, get one. Legal aid in your state can help.

If she isnt paying at all, you should check with your child support enforcement office about issuing a Body Attachment. Here in Arkansas, the max is $1500 cash bond, but if she wants out of jail, she will pay it and all of it will go toward arrears owed. If she cant come up w/ the money and has to sit in jail for 30 days, the bond amount may get lowered but, again, whatever she ends up having to pay will go to what she owes you.

It is because you are not correctly pursuing the action. You need to get your own attorney and QUIT relying on the state's child support enforcement agencies.
