I'm looking to purchase a riding lawnmower and was wonder if it is worth spending the extra money on a hydrostatic transmission mower. What are the benefits of a hydrostatic transmission? What advantages do hydrostatic transmission have over the others?

Thanks,

Dan

I gotta tell you I don't know the pros or cons but I have a Huskee 42" 16 hp hydrostatic and the reason I love it it is the oil is easy to change and all of the filters so as senior citizen this saves me some money. It is so easy to drive and the sppeds are wonderful

Why would they put a hydrostatic transmission on a tractor/mower? I works so well on a bobcat for changing directions, it can do the same for a tractor ( of any size). If all you are doing is driving forward you may want to opt for the cheaper transmisson but for resale the hydro tranny will hold its value.

think of it like an old car with a clutch vs. an automatic then you'll know why its worth it.
