Sure. One lives in Europe and is honest about what they believe. The other lives in the United States and lies constantly about what they believe.

Democrats have been around for a long time and they have been in power in our government many times. We are far from being a socialist country and very few people here would be satisfied with a socialist government.

If you are calling them socialists because of the universal health care proposal, keep in mind that we are the only industrialized country that does not have it. Frankly, I'm not to thrilled with the prospect either, but we'll see how it plays out.

You're asking if there's any difference between Democracy and Socialism, and I'm sure you're asking the question because you can't see a difference.

But yes, there's a difference. And a Democracy can, and should, incorporate Socialist mechanisms and principles... as seen in public taxation for the purposes of maintaining services such as police, fire-dept, public libraries, public schooling, etc...

I'd say it's about the same as the difference between Republicans and fascists.

I sure hope so.
I'm a democrat. I am NOT a socialist.
I believe in free speech (even for republican talk radio).
I believe in free expression (even for Christian fundamentalists).
I believe in equality (including for white men).

Seems simple enough, amazing how many people DON'T want these things because they are more interested in their own ideology than these basic principles that democrats fought for and for the most part, won (thank you, all for joining us in those important causes).

Socialism's influence on our party can be traced as follows (go down to "Split" about half-way down):

Don't let our country go down that path.
Help us take back our party.

Wow, I just asked that question a couple days ago and 90 percent answered that they were liberal dems and believe in socialism, I honestly couldn't believe that our country has come to this. I say, draft these idiots so they can become real men.

the democrats, as they are now, are barely even qualified to be considered a leftest party and certainly not a socialist one...

I think there used to be. Kennedy cut taxes. I think it began with Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" aka the "Great Disaster".
