I went to the doctor yesterday. The heartrate was 146 and the doctor said everything looked good so far. Today I have had cramping in my lower abdomine..almost like I'm going to start my period. Is this normal?

Yes, cramping is common throughout pregnancy especially in the early months. I've had it with all 4 of my pregnancies.

Don't worry or call your doctor unless you have spotting or bleeding with cramps, or if the cramps are severe and constant or feel like a persistent backache.

Cramps are normal during pregnancy, and it does feel like you are going to start your period. Sometimes people get cists on their ovaries during pregnancy and that causes cramping. The cists will usually dissappear after a time. You need to be drinking lots of water, and watch for spotting. If the cramps worsen and become unbearable then you need ot get to the emergancy room pronto. If you see the least little bit of spotting, don't even hesitate to go to the emergency room.

I think what you are experiencing is round ligament pain. It happens to every expectant mother and it feels like menstrual cramps. It is your ligaments stretching to make way for your baby. If this is your first baby it is a little more uncomfortable than if you already had children. It is normal - if you feel it isn't , call your doctor...but I worried about the same thing for months until I found out...Our bodies change and compensate.

You should always call your doctor if you're having new symptoms (like cramping), and let them decide if you need to be seen and evaluated.

But generally, unless cramping is accompanied by bleeding, MOST of the time it's not a concern.

Yes it is. But if you feel concerned about it then talk to your doctor. Any time you have a concern/worry you should speak with them. Chances are it's nothing but talking to them will put your mind more at ease than our answers will.

usually yes, if its concerning you, you should go in. but this does happen a lot, because of your inside adjusting to being pregnant. i just had my 3rd and had the most cramping with him throughout my pregnancy.

It could be round ligament pain. As long as there's no bleeding, I would try not to worry.
