It is less than 4 yrs old. Please let me know how to fix the problem.

You should try to vaccuum out the smoke alarm ...should it keep "making noise" it's time to replace it with a high quality smoke alarm with battery back up also

Since it doesn't recognize the new battery as such, I'd say it's time to replace the alarm. It's not worth the potential of having a bad smoke detector during a fire to save a few bucks.

It sounds to me like there is a problem with the power getting to it. (assuming it it hard wired.) They will beep to let you know that it is running on battery backup. Open it and test the wires with a wire tester. If there is no power, you have a bigger problem then you thought. Make sure the circuit breaker isn't tripped, then call an electrician

Either the back up battery was weak too..or a malfunction in the alarm...You have a neighbor? Check the backup battery on thiers.. and see if they beep

If you have any other fire alarms in the house replace their batteries too then press the reset button. I did that with the ones at my house and that worked.

might be a bad battery. try another one. if same problem replace unit.

if it's wired into your home, check the circuit breaker. maybe it's tripped. if not, then you'll need an electrician to fix (or do it yourself)
if it's battery operated, then you may need a new one.

they are cheap buy a new one...dont risk your life, home or insurance or your friends or neighbors...
