Warning: this question may contain spoilers for those who have not read the 7th book yet.

ok, i read the Harry Potter books like over and over again all the time. when i finished the seventh book, i decided to read the series over again, i'm on book 5 now and i just realized something. i was just wondering if anyone else picked up on a VERY subtle clue about Snape being good in book 4, the Goblet of Fire. Whether it was intentionally put in there as a clue or not, i believe J.K. Rowling gave us all the proof we needed in book 4 to realize Snape was on Dumbledore's side. At the end, when Bart Crouch Junior, posing as Alastor Moody, has Harry in his classroom, there are many references to the Foe Glass, and the shapes in it becoming clearer. Well, Barty Jr. was obviously on Voldemort's side, and when the shapes in the Foe Glass were people, J.K. Rowling specifically said Snape's reflection was seen in the Foe Glass, meaning he was on the opposite side of Crouch Jr.'s and Voldemort's.

Although, you can argue that maybe Barty Crouch Junior just thought Snape was on the good side, but i think the magic of the Foe Glass is deeper than just the user's thoughts, if Snape was really on his side he wouldn't have shown up even though Crouch Jr. thought he was against him.....

just thinking in writing....

Interesting thought. I thought she put that there to make you suspect Snape. Even though you "knew" he was good at the time, you always wondered...

Although it would blow your theory if you thought Snape was gradually won over by Voldemort after book four, which is what I thought kind of happened... However, I also thought he was go to die defending Harry, and redeem himself that way. So much for guessing.

Oh, I guess it also depends on how the Foe Glass works. If it works for the person who looks at it, it meant that Snape was Harry's enemy...

While Rowling did eventually prove Snape was indeed working for Dumbledore, wouldn't it have still been possible for Snape to appear in the foe glass if he were actually working for Voldemort? Two reasons there. If Snape were working for Voldemort, then the foe glass would have probably shown enemies for both Harry and Crouch Jr. Dumbledore and McGonnagal for Crouch Jr. and Snape for Harry. Plus the Death Eaters all wanted to prove they were Voldemort's most loyal follower and his favorite. So Snape might have wished to murder a potential rival for that estemed position.

Due to Snape's extreme hatred for James. I realized he was jealous of James because he was in love with Lilly. Snape's true loyalty was not with Dumbledore either it was with Lilly. And revenge upon Voldemort for killing Lilly.
Which made me believe he was good all along.

It was so obvious.

Yes! Many people (including me) argued that point over and over and over again! It was a clear point that Snape was good! Yet, so many people were stubborn and did not believe that!

You people really don't pick up on much, do you?
Snape being good was fairly obvious if you added up all the evidence. Stacks of clues are dropped through the whole series, and this was one of the more sledgehammer-style ones.
