how does it feel to find advanced multivariable calculus (Calc 6) as easy as precalc, how does it feel to grasp the concepts of topology, number theory, and complex analysis as easily as getting the jokes on family guy, how does it feel to know you can compute 3888445*99.65 without using a calculator in less than 5 seconds?

It just feels "ordinary" ;)

It feels pretty damn good I say. And you know what, it feels even better when I get all the "cool" kids, the winners of all the popularity contests in high school (and then college), the ones with the big expensive cars, rich parents, and hot girlfriends, would come to me begging for help. And you know what, those kids never dare call me nerdy or any such thing.

I also feel very very blessed. I am good in math AND I happen to like. This is something I have determined that I want to do my whole life. Probably not teaching but something else. In addition, I am not doing this for money but hey, the money part doesn't hurt either. I feel very lucky to be doing something that I like and getting paid very decently for it.

By the way adding and multiplying are not Mathematics. I know plenty of good mathematicians who can't 3888445*99.65 without using a calculator in less than 5 seconds. This is not the definition of a good mathematician. This is a misconception and get it out of your head as soon as possible.

In addition, just because you are good at those things doesn't mean that you like them. I can assure you that I have seen plenty of students who are brilliant in math but hate it. The concepts and the proofs are the key. Logical thinking is the core idea.

If I could do those things you listed... I'd be the happiest person on earth. Dead serious. Quite sadly I'm not that genius. I don't care about multiplying large numbers without a calculator, just knowing multivariable calculus, topology, number theory, and complex analysis would fulfill my dreams.

I don't know about calculus or anything but I am in ninth grade and being one of the top students is something "ordinary" for me because all my life (actually since grade 3) I knew what i wanted to do when I grow up. Even though it's still not fulfilled yet, I am aiming for it and doing the best I am in class. Thus, not everyone is going to be a genius in math. I don't think I am, but i think me sister is a total genuis :D

regrettably that's real that geniuses or those with a intense IQ lose interest and get into worry in school. He could desire to be in a complicated classification to be challenged greater. maximum colleges have progressed instructions. jointly as he's superb at math, what approximately his different matters? If math is his basically solid element, I actual does not advise skipping a grade by using fact different matters could nicely be too progressed for him and he could be set as much as fail. check out a complicated math classification for him or in all probability even Mensa if he's involved. i don't be attentive to the way previous you may desire to be to connect Mensa it somewhat is for best IQ's. I qualify, yet am not interesting at my age to connect. Any quizzes could desire to be nicely-rounded on each issue. stable success.

They are Normal for the most part. Actually their "feelings" probably are representative of the general population. Some of them are depressed. Some of them are happy. It's the whole spectrum.

I wouldn't say that I am a "math genius" I am in BC Calculus, but it bothers me when people don't understand concepts quickly...Hope that helps! =)
