It's because they're so plain, I think. I've seen better looking unis on middle school teams.

there's no logo on the helmet to make the space on the side look smaller and the helmet seems bigger with nothing but a white space on each side and a blue stripe down the middle

they have big heads?... the helmets are wider on the back and dips in around the neck i think
