Thinking about re-sodding my lawn. I live in South Florida so Hot, Humid wet summers. The most popular sod here is bermuda, but can anyone recommend something softer? LIke a ryegrass but that is still a little tolerant? I've heard ryegrass drys easily in heat.

Thanks!!

Hi:
There are a couple of other warm climate grasses that will do well. Cenipede and Zoysia are great grass seeds for southern Florida.
A few steps you should do.

1. Aerate your lawn - you can rent this tool at most rental places. A round tank is filled with water and there are spikes
that will rotate into your ground. This creates tiny holes.

2. Go ahead and overseed your lawn and plant.

3. Add a six month slow nitrogen release fertilizer and this will help the root system get established.

4. Stay on a good watering schedule for the first few weeks, and then maintain the schedule. You can reseed some in spring to fill any spots in and also fertilize again.

Hope this has helped some and good luck to you. If you need any other help, please feel free to contact me at my website. I will direct you to my site map page along with a fall page.
