Perhaps but civil Service should be combined with Social Security first so that money paid into Social Security does not pay a separate retirement for those responsible for the health of Social security. If our elected employees, government officials had to retire on Social Security as well, there wouldn't be the problems that Social Security is facing.

If anything can be done at a profit there is a company willing to do it, and they'll do it better than the government.

Do you really have confidence in the govt?
Isn't it interesting? Geoge Bush once mentioned this and everybody said he was out to steal our social security.
Now, with 60 million baby boomers about to apply for SS, George Bush is lookijng more and more like a man of vision,. isn't he?

From a baby boomer perspective, the next generations are screwed if massive changes are not made.
With the low interest they pay, (based on the T-Bill) on the mass amount they have plundered out of it and in it's current state, it is doomed.

Yes, because the system could very well be bankrupt by the time the current generation retires. It needs massive reform to offset the current course.

Yep. Give me all of the money I've paid into the system over the years and let me invest it myself, as I do with my 401k and my IRA.
