Your truck is throttle body injected so the gap would be .045 thats what the chilton manual calls for.

I own a shop, and I guess I will have to settle this one. They are all right! For the early model engines it was .035" and the later ones was .042-.045". It depends on which ignition system you have. I know you have an HEI distributor, but the "only" way you know for sure is to do this. Look on the emissions tag on the radiator shroud, or the underside of the hood. If this is missing, then go to the library, and pull a Chilton's Repair Manual, and look it up. I have seen some HEI systems go as far a .050" on the gap.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

If you go to the local parts store and look in their book which lists the plugs, points, distributor caps, etc. for all the cars, it will give you the gap spec. Or you can purchase a manual from them which will give you all the data and requirements for repairing your car. I personally won't work on a car without the manual, even one which I've owned for twenty years.

Taking a flyer here- It is on the engine/emissions tag on the radiator cfan shroud????
Other wise go to a parts store and get confirmation that all OBD 1 5.7 and 5.0L engines use .045 inch gap
