Should people who are here in this country illegally be able to get Driver's Licenses?

The Bush administration and New York cut a deal Saturday to create a new generation of super-secure driver's licenses for U.S. citizens, but also allow illegal immigrants to get a version.

New York is the fourth state to reach such an agreement on federally approved secure licenses, after Arizona, Vermont and Washington. The issue is pressing for border states, where new and tighter rules are soon to go into effect for crossings.

The deal comes about one month after New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer announced a plan whereby illegal immigrants with a valid foreign passport could obtain a license.

Definitely not! The senate just got through passing legislation to prevent them from a getting driver's license.

If they are going to "give" drivers licenses` to Illegal Immigrants; then they should do away with the DMVs`in all 50 states ; and American Citizens should not have to take driving test or renew their license ever again . However , all of us who are against this insanity , be patient ! Bank America gave free credit cards to Illegal Immigrants and now they are reaping what they sowed : 3,500 Bank America employees are being laid off with more to follow simply because Bank America choose to give free credit to Illegals in the form of Visa Cards ! Keep your eyes` open and be on the lookout for Bank America to try to get "Washington" to bail them out ! And that is when the taxpayer revolt shall begin !!!!! I live in NY (God help me) We the people have to bond together and vote the people that do not enforce immigration laws out of office.

If we get rid of a few the rest will fall in line.

So now Americans have to buy a new license (you know it will not be free) and the illegals will buy car insurance, YEA RIGHT.

Spitzer heeds to be recalled. I say we steamroller him out of office. And anyone that agrees with him.

Now do they also get to vote with this new ID???

And if they say no, will the ACLU say it is unconstitutional to ask for ID when voting???

I doubt that Spitzer will even require passport I D from the illegals. He wants to license the entire lot of them. (An estimated 500,000 in NYC alone.) A driver's license with-out proper identification is ridiculous.

Giving illegals drivers licenses is just awarding bad behavior. It boils my blood! We've got a governor that wants to give them licenses too... Just really makes me mad.
