I remember doing all that stuff! We had to be close enough to hear mom call us for dinner!
I see alot about child hood obesity on the news....
That was not an issue when we were kids. But, you can't let your kids just go out and play like we used to....So sad!

We were always out side when the weather was nice. We lived in a neighborhood with lots of kids so there was always something going on. We had to be able to hear mom when she called---and that wasn't on a cell phone either. In the summer we would all go out and play after dinner, and as long as the parents knew where we were we could hang out until after dark.

No my brother had a remote controlled plane and my granddad a remote controlled boat, but we spent a lot of time with our friends and in the park, Yes we had to be in before it was dark and even in the winter by 8.30 pm (and lay in bed hearing the other kids o/side. But sometimes we got to stay out in the back garden until late. WE WERE HAPPY SO IT DIDN'T REALLY BOTHER US TOO MUCH! (sorry caps lock got stuck on!)

yes I was and let me tell you, there was soooo much more fun then, than there is now. We would be out in the dark hitting bats with tennisball raquets, anything. Me and my friends would hang at each others houses all summer long. We never slept indoors in the summer, but we had to be in whoevers yard when the streetlights came on, or the parents of said kids could beat us, then when we got home our parents would beat us too. Too bad the kids nowadays can't take responsibility

basically yes to all the above but I at least was fit and not over weight from sitting on couch watching TV and playing video games all day...You got a lot of exercise getting up off the couch to change the channel on the tv and you really had to do it quiet often when dad got home, since he was tired from working all day--according to him that is why he had kids...so someone would change the channel for him.

Well, we did have TV -- just no remote, cable or satellite dish. Just a rooftop antenna and only three channels -- the three major networks and it was all black and white. We played sandlot baseball quite a bit, rode horses, stuff like that. I don't remember covered wagons or stagecoaches, however.
