I must admit, I have an expensive popcorn popper.

I never cook anything in it only warm things once in a while. I swear I can taste "microwave" and I can tell when I go out to eat if one is used in the cooking of the food. So I guess I don't trust it. Give me an old fashioned oven anytime!

The microwave oven rocks. The best Campbell's canned soups have been heated by my microwave. I haven't done the cat food because he's happy the way it is. But I trust the mike. I heard you have to be careful with the popcorn thing. I use it for popcorn but not often. I like the term n-u-k-e. that is like living dangerously. One last thing. My mike is older than the titanic. I wonder how much they cost these days?

Since they've come a very long way from the Radar Range,
and aren't emitting anything harmful, I trust them. I got a new
one last Christmas from our daughter. It's the prettiest one I
have ever seen with the brushed chrome front.
And we use ours often during the day. I start ours in the AM
heating my tea with the bag in the mug of water. Faster than
boiling in the teakettle. And we reheat left overs and thaw
things out sometimes from the freezer. And I used to make
popcorn alot, but now I have to watch my salt. We can also
thaw out a frozen drink by setting the dial for a minute and
the ice is unthawed and the drink tastes as it was before
freezing. Hubby found that out, with a mixed drink he didn't
want to toss out, but to save for later or the next day. So
there was no diluting at all.

As usual with me I was late coming into using a microwave - bought my first one sometime in the mid/late 80's. Originally I tried a lot of things in it, but now use it primarily for quick hot tea and coffee water; defrosting stuff; steaming veggies; frozen dinners and warming up leftovers.

I had always had lower wattage ones until moving in my current home which came equipped with an above range microwave. First few times I used it I destroyed the food therein!....turns out this one is high wattage so needs MUCH less time to prepare stuff. lol

I use it to heat coffee, popcorn, veggies, soups, just about anything except meat....don't care for meat cooked in it. Must admit that it is faster to heat large containers on the stove than in the Microwave. But small stuff, potato cooks very fast in the microwave. Goldwing

yes I use microwave for frozen vegetables all the time. I lose no vitamins in the water and I don't over cook them. I also love the hot dogs microwaved, reheat things. I don't use the microwave for popcorn because of the trans fats, I pop that on the stove like we did in the old days
I love to make salmon in it with garlic butter or lemon butter, bake potatoes in it, I have made light fluffy scrambled eggs in it

My microwave is a risk I am willing to take. I was in my late 30's before I owned one, couldn't see why I needed it. Now...I have become very spoiled to getting frozen vegetables done in a matter of seconds. The popcorn is to die for. I still put bread in the oven though, I don't like mushy, rubbery bread.

I have a very inexpensive model with only one dial to set the length of time it runs. no fancy settings or anything. It is usually just used to heat water for tea or warm up leftovers. make popcorn on the stove top with real butter. But I do trust it.

Yes; I use my microwave to cook all sorts of things. I've even cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner when my conventional oven died a couple of days pre-turkey. It did very well :-)

It helps that I understand how it works, I think, and that it's really just a big radio transmitter with no antenna and LOTS of shielding! ;-)

Exactly! We use ours as a popcorn popper, coffee warmer and a quick way to heat bread and canned stuff. Otherwise it just sits there, collecting dust and taking up space!

(Feeling a little more cheery?? Hope so!)
