inspite of the former age and the repeated publicity to x-rays, I felt Tesla died from a damaged heart. Tesla made some claims after the Colorado experiments that were too brilliant for the time. Rejected by the authorities and the medical community, i trust he grew to change into terminally depressed and gave up the ghost to to the deterioration of his body linked with that disease. Tesla's' will and determination likely held him up all his existence, he in no way ate nicely, socialized, or rested as persons go with.

Man, have you NEVER seen a 'Tesla Ball?' This thing shows how Nikola Tesla harnessed energy. They are usually a 'staple item' in a Science Museum.

A freaking genius. He was so ahead of his time regarding electrical properties and manipulation that I think time travel might be possible. Because if someone told me Tesla was from the future I would have believed them. His ideas were so ahead of their time we are, to this day, still experimenting with some of them.

Think HAARP project.

Tesla came up with alternating current (what we have in our electrical lines in the States). It works better than DC (direct current) which is what you get from batteries.

His work was important enough to get mentioned in the Star Trek universe.

One of my favorite physicists. Big developer of electromagnetic ideas and practical devices. Pushed alternating current at the time that edison was pushing DC as the way to go. Demonstrated that electrical impulses can be converted into E/M waves that can be transmitted and thus received over long distances (basics of radio). Bit of a nutbar.

He is the man who discovered and created most of the things Alexander Gram Bell takes credit for. Watch the movie "The Prestige". Great flick.

I believe he virtually invented AC (or made it possible on a large scale anyway).
