They don't look down on them nor judge them. Feminists realize that pornography is simply a fact in a sexually repressed society. Women in the porn industry are being victimized like any other in a society that devalues women and objectifies them as mere sexual playthings with little other inherent value.

Their views are split... some support women in the porn industry, others do not. If they do, it's to support the idea of doing whatever they want, and if they don't, it's because of the objectification of women. While I won't place myself firmly on either side, I sway towards not thinking the porn industry is a good thing. I don't think it should be abolished, persay -- I just think conditions should improve so it isn't such a degrading environment... it's hard to say exactly how that could happen but a lot of women are sort of pushed (or flat-out forced) along and exploited into doing it and I don't think that's right at all.

Since the 80's there has been an entire movement within feminism which calls itself "sex-positive." It rejects any attempts to deter women from the sex industry. Certainly, on the basis of defending First and Fourteenth Amendment rights and self-determination, it's wrong to prevent women from joining the industry if that's what they choose to do. It's also ridiculous to deny how it degrades and objectifies women as a whole.

I think pornography defies the entire feminist philosphy.
The goal of feminism is to promote equality, truth, and understanding, is it not?
When you market women's bodies to the masses, women suffer. An entire generation of boys has grown up thinking that sex means bending the skinny blonde with huge boobs in hooker heels and bringing her to quivering screaming orgasmin seconds by banging her from behind. It leaves men with unrealistic and unnatural expectations of women, and leaves women feeling "unsexy" for not looking like porn stars and "disfunctional" because they don't achieve pleasure from the ridiculous acts depicted in porn.

To each is own . There will be always apples and oranges on this topic.
Women who enjoy a career in porn do it for the money, period...If its in their enjoyment, well then good for them.....
Women who don't believe in having a career in porn, have different views and different beliefs than women who chosen to have a career in porn.

It depends on what type of feminist you're talking about. Sex-positive and more moderate/liberal feminists support pornography, while radical/conservative ones don't.
I enjoy porn myself, so it wouldn't make sense for me to hate on the women that go into what I enjoy watching. :) I take on the sex-positive feminist view in that I believe it's THEIR choice, the woman is in control AND women have a right to enjoy their sexuality and defeat traditional "madonna/virgin mary" expectations.

I would personally like to see the porn industry dry up and wither away, but that isn't going to happen any time soon. Some women really do enjoy it, so I'm not going to infringe upon their right to do it.

I find it amazing that with all the rights and choice feminist have fought for, they are still criticized for CHOOSING to be in the porn industry, much the same way women CHOOSE to stay at home with their children. What hypocrisy.

"i know some women probably do porn just for the money..."
Some women probably work at McDonald's just for the money.
Some women probably serve on corporate boards just for the money.
Some women probably get married just for the money.
...
Women in the porn industry are looked down upon because they are WOMEN in the porn industry.

I feel that it is a shame that someone would put themselves out as sexual objects, but if it is what they choose to do then I can't judge them for it! If that is they way that the choose to make a living, I can't say that that is a bad thing, but I can't support something so heinous, but I can't judge them based on what they do for a living.
