31st October. Tis the season of Hollantide. If ducks do swim at Hollantide in Winter they shall slide. If ducks do slide at Hollantide in Winter they shall swim.
Remembrance Day on November 11th (Martinmass) was when Hallows Eve used to be when ye olde calender was used up to 1752. 11 days were taken out to correct the calender, and Halloween then fell on October 31st. It seem a strange coincidence that the dead from both World Wars are remembered on November 11th.
