First, You have to Know what you're saying.
Even if it's written infront of You, Or you're going to wing it, You need to know exactly what topics you'll bring up, And what to expect from the audience around you.
If You did write everything down... Memorize it, even if you aren't going to Speak off the top of your head, It's best to know everything by heart, It makes you more confident about your speach.
Second; Practice infront of a mirror, Practice your facial Expressions too,Knowing what you'll look like; What your reactions are to your own words will actually make you a bit less nervous.
Third.. Practice your speach in front of friends or family, Whoever.
Gradually speaking to larger groups, Like Start with a friend or two, And move up from there.
After; Your friends, Family what they though; Constructive Critism and Back to the mirror, Or whichever, Working on what you may have done a bit wrong.
:]
Hope that helped.

i just did debating not long ago and i was realllllyyy nervous.
But I got help from approx 5 people.
Most of which where debating/public speaking experts.
And my team only lost by 1 point.
So i think we did pretty good considering that my whole team never did debating in their whole life, and the other team had. Plus our opposition team was our school.
All im trying to say is , research alot...
find as much info and help as you can....and with being nervous i think say your speech in front of as much of an audience as you can, just think, it will all be over... soon
If you need any more help, dont hesitate to email me.
Illl help!!
Good luck!

Practice. Take public speaking engagements whenever you can. Join Toastmasters. Whatever it takes. Eventually it becomes fun.
