reading problem? Latley, I have been having this reading problem where it seems like when I read, the words get mixed up. Like out of order. For example, if the sentence was, "The dog chased the cat." I might see it as, "The chased dog the cat." It started maybe the beginning of 10th grade, and I don't know what it is. I am not in special ed. I am in all regular academic classes(although I have trouble keeping up with the classwork.) Do you know of anything like this?

thanks :)

No one here on Yahoo answers can tell you what you have. It takes a trained professional to identify a learning problem. This is very, very serious. I don't mean it's necessarily dangerous, but it's not normal, and you can get help.

Please go speak to your counselor or a favorite teacher IMMEDIATELY. Tell them you are having trouble reading and it's not related to your vision. Ask them if they can have someone from the Special Ed department evaluate this problem.

There are so many different reasons why you might be experiencing this, and only a professional evaluation can give you the right answer and the right solution. I work in a Counseling Office right across from the school psychologist, and she takes care of things like this all the time. Getting the right information and help can make a difference before you start getting behind on your grades.

All school districts have ways to help students like you. But everything must start with an evaluation. The persons who do these work alot with the Special Ed students, so even though you are not Special Ed, that's probably the person who will do the testing. If not, the Special Ed people are the ones who know for sure WHO should do the testing for you.

Good luck to you. If you don't find any help, ask your parents to contact the school - your counselor or the principal. The school will not do any testing without their permission first anyway, so if you prefer, you can ask them to call for you.

Like I said, I work at a high school and we WANT to help students in situations like yours. I really encourage you to get the help you are entitled to (by law) for this situation.

it could be dyslexia or it could be you just need a color over lay in both cases your school should have someone on campus to test for either one. Talk to your reading teacher and tell her your concerns and see if she will help.
