I have a friend in Plano, Texas who paid about 200 dollars to have a tree cut down and cut into firewood. The guy even laid it out in rows like firewood, It has to dry for a couple of years before it can be used, but who cares, it will work.

Depends on what area of the country you live in. Around Boston, it's about $800-$1200.
That's WITHOUT the stump being removed. If you want the stump taken out, it's another company, usually, and another $300-$500.
