what did you think? i thought it was a very touching story and very sad, but even after everything those girls went through,they were still able to sing on their journey home, such a great film, the girls were brilliant actresses.

I agree,I watched it aswell it was really good and moving and those girls especially the older one were good actors,it was very believable and at times sad,I mean it was like the oldest child took on the role of being ;'The mother' and although the mum should have been looking after them Iam sure she did care but she wanted some freedom,it also showed the hard times that they went through,and what people in the town thought of the mother,and the ending was good aswell and the fact that from what we saw they did stay together and were happy after all of that.

I've had this on DVD for a while. It was given away with Sight and Sound magazine ages ago. I'll watch it again I think.
Have you seen seen the director's follow up film "Red Road"? That's an excellent film too with a similar feel to it although quite extreme in places.

yep just watched it...i agree.watching those young girls you wouldnt guess they were acting..it really drew you into what was happening.it is easy to judge the mother but having to bring 4 kids alone must be hard and i felt she really did care about them bu twanted so much just to have a bit of time for herself...i guess she had learned a lesson tho from it.
a very good short film i thought.
