There is very little organized labor left in this country. And Republicans aren't kind to the 'little people'. The differences between what Main Street and Wall Street is experiencing is amazing. Wall St. goes up everytime unemployment goes up. They regard it as cost cutting. But in the meantime there aren't enough employees to sell products in department stores, or keep airlines running on time with you luggage going to the same place you are. Those they do hire are overworked and underpaid so that good people would rather go elswhere leaving the dull and uninterested on the floor dealing with the public. We know whats wrong, but no one ever asks the people who actually do the work anymore, all they want is college executives who won't cost them too much or make expensive suggestions. Like paying more to attract better quality employees, so things run better and you can get answers to your questions.
There is a lot of angry and disgusted working class people out there and they have good reason.

At one time (1930s (and often before) through and into the 1950s) a "labor secton) was standard in most American urban newspapers.
The reasons for the abandonment of this is basically simple: the labor movement in the US was deliberately destroyed. Current unions, whlle they do try to represent their members, only cover 13% of the workforce--and are frankly little more than adjuncts of the corporations.
Following World War 2 conservative eextrimists began a campaign of propaganda, smar tactics, and legal harasment of organized labor. They were alleged to be agents of communist Moscow (false), etc. These efforts culminated in the McCarthy era witch hunts--and in the Taft-Hartley Act. That act rolled back many of the gains labor had made under the Wagner act of 1935--though it was modified from the original version, which would have outlawed organized labor, to all intents and purposes.
One of the specific points that led to the dissapearance of labor sections in the media was the legal prohibition (part of Taft Hartly) of the National LarborRelations Board from doing any research, studies, etc. that documents any aspect of labor relations. That prohibition is still inthe law, BTW. thus, a major source of data 9and stories) was effectively removed.
Bottom line--as organized labor's role in Amrican life waed, tehre was less aned less to print. Gradually, even sympathetic editors to discontinue "Labor Sections" for lack of anything to put in them.

It is a shame, and its too bad that labor has been decimated for the past 26 years, and this includes Clinton with his "free trade" policy. Maybe labor should try to get more involved, us as citizens and the unions.

Because you don't matter. You are kindling. You are ammunition. You are incubators for more kindling.
The vast majority of the media is owned by the international corporate fascist movement. They are in the business of creating hatchlings to join the void that is the group hatchling mind.

Labor doesn't buy ads in the newspaper. Money talks, and the chamber of commerce doesn't like seeing ads promoting working people.
It's very much like television shows. Do you ever see working class people depicted positively? The most you can hope for is something like the Roseann show where working people neglect their children and burp.
Work is actually looked down upon in the United States. The people who are praised for their work are coupon clippers and market traders.

When there's a lot, it's good.
When there's few, it's bad.
