Chinese scooters are cheap-NOT affordable, just cheap junk, and with many of these Chinese bikes there is no service available or supply chain for parts.

The Japanese scooters cost more then the Chinese counter parts, but with the Japanese scooters you also get a quality product. The Japanese scooter manufactures have a good supply line for parts and have dealerships just about everywhere that can service their bikes if you can't do it yourself.

Remember, it's not the initial cost of the bike, but rather the quality of the bike and support you get after the sale that should be looked at before the sale.

Right advice is this. Save some more money and buy a new tgb 404 sport. I bought one two years ago and never had a problem with it. ( honda 125 engine in it ) Not sure if you have had much motorcycle experience ( me nearly 40yrs ) but make sure you get some proper training. I always say to my kids if you want a bike, then you need to learn to drive a car first, and have about 4 yrs driving experience. When i learned to ride a bike , if you fell off , you just got back on.These days if you fall off , you get run over. Don't ride in winter if the temerature is below freezing. Ice on roads leads to disaster, so that is why you are better off saving more, and getting a new one with 12months warranty. All in all. When the weather is fine, a bike/scooter is the best way to commute and travel. They cost little money to run ( my tgb does nearly 90mpg ) You can park the thing nearly anywhere, and traffic jams are a thing of the past. Enjoy your bike and ride safely

As csburrid said a bit ago, china scooters are crap. I read an article a couple weeks ago about them and how they are being imported into the US and sold on EBay dirt cheap and with no support for parts, service, or warranty's. They will break down quickly, usually within several hundred miles, and then your screwed. No parts, no service, good luck.

However, I bought a Japanese scooter, a Suzuki Burgman, about 6 months ago and recently had a run-in with a deer while riding. I am fine (didn't fall) but the deer lost out on the encounter. Had to order a bunch of front-end pieces across town at the Suzuki dealer and it only took a week and a half for the parts to arrive. I had parts and service to back up my scoot when it was out of commission.

Bottom Line? Pay a bit more and buy Japanese; you get great quality, service capability, and availability of replacement parts. Chinese scooters, with the rare exception of a couple of emerging companies, are largely crap, unsafe, and unsupported.

ok guys easy now dont you know parts for chineese are easy to get ? and I repair these scoots everyday of the week at my shop parts are cheap an as long as you keep your oil changed they keep running .I have a honda with discontinued parts that is behind the shed for 8 months now cause finding the piston is not happening.there are tons of sources for the china bikes and we have one right now running fine with 86000 on the speedo.so it is all in how you maintain your bike reguardless of type.also china parts are only 1/4 the price of japan or italy made scoots.

It doesn;t, you cant compare anything made in China to anything else, Everything made in China is CRAP, They produce cheap and nasty stuff, Japanese gear is of high quality, Chinese stuff is CRAP, you only have to look at their tv's or cars, or anything, they dont build things to last, its all throw away stuff, so if you want something good buy Jap, stay away from Chinese, Korea, Philipeans, Taiwan, all CRAP!!!!!!

You'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches if you just flush $500 down the toilet.
And you'll be saving the environment by not having that piece of junk decompose behind the wood shed LOL

It does`nt! C`mon; Made in China! It`s like `made in Japan` was 25-30 yrs ago. They have no standards; flood our markets w/counterfit junk; even the environment over there is a huge mess. And so on and on and,.........
