Nevermind the idiot that made a comment above. Just be yourself. Accept yourself and Start building your self-esteem to get rid of the shyness. You can do that by volunteering, reading self-help books on building the self-esteem (visit your local library for that) and being kind to yourself and hanging around only positive friends. Also ask yourself if you're introverted or extroverted? Do you get your energy from being around people or being by yourself or with a few friends. In any case, just be yourself and accept that. Whether you're introverted or extroverted. You'll be fine. And try to relax and breathe through your stomach when you're around new people that you meet. Hold your head high and think good things about You. Good luck! :)

Stop caring about what you think others think about you.
Stop caring about what they say about you
or what you think they say.
Do not be afraid to tell people what is on
your mind or to just say hi to someone.
Compliment someone on their cool shoes
or something else you like about them.
It takes practice not being afraid of people.
So start practicing.
