Measure and mark the lenght you want for your scarf. Take the material off your needles and pull out the rows until you get to the lenght you want then bind off the yarn.

Quick! Hide your knitting needles from yourself...ok, maybe that won't work. When your scarf is long enough, go to the Lion Brand yarn site (www.lionbrand.com) or some other knitting site with which you're familiar and find instructions on how to cast off or bind off. Enjoy your scarf.

do you mean its getting wider? If its getting longer, simply stop and bind off. If you mean wider, youre probably picking up an extra stitch right at the beginning. Make sure you are holding the yarn down in the front of the needle with the live yarn. and count your stitches frequentyly

Stop knitting and just end it there! Put some fringes at the end or something and start wearing it or wrap it up as a gift.
