Ok, I bought a Halloween card, and I'm about to send it, but on the envelope right where I would put the stamp, it says "extra postage needed". Does that mean that (duh) I need to put a stamp on this thing before they will send it, or that it needs special extra postage? Its just a normal card, except for the fact that its square instead of rectangular.

it requires extra postage because of its unusual size. Not 41 cents, but more.

Square cards, or cards that weigh more than one ounce, require extra postage. (Somehow, square cards are harder for their automated machinery to handle.) Use the calculator at http://postcalc.usps.gov/ to determine the postage. It's probably an extra 17 cents. Use stamps that add up to at least the right amount, or bring it to a post office to have them weigh it and pay exactly the right amount.

You need to put more than ONE stamp on it. It's usually because it's heavier than a normal letter. I've sent those musical cards to people and always have to put extra postage.
