A Veterans day card, when is it appropriate?

A friend of mine is in the military and has been to Iraq 2x...he is currently still serving and has 4 more years to go. I want to know is it ok to send a Veterans Day card or are those only appropriate for someone who is no longer in the military

It is completely APPROPRIATE to send him a card whenever .. and I am sure that he will appreciate the thoughts behind it at this time! So go ahead and send the card, your best wishes, news from home (happy stuff), a little care package .. that WILL welcome and he will enjoy it tremendously!
