Does anyone have more info on Female Circumcision...any other cultures?
During research I find in some cases for historical practice social status of purity. This practice presently is being reviewed as mutilation. Presently 1 of 500 born are born as hermophodite. The term "penis envy" may have meant alot more than we have been told. In some circles this condition the" prefect person". Some say some of the pharoahs were hermophidite or androgynous, held prestige. why the mutation?

The effect very because there are different types of female circumcision.

- Is it legal?
In the US, no the same in lots of other country’s but it is done in about 20 other country’s these countries include: Iraq, Africa, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and many more.

There are about 3 different types of it and they could be many more, here are the 3 main ones I know about
- Sunna circumcision, This involves the removal of the tip of the clitoris and/or its hood or covering (prepuce).
- Clitorectomy circumcision, This is the removal of the entire clitoris and the adjacent labia (the external and internal folds of skin, or lips, that protect the vaginal opening).
- Infibulation circumcision, This procedure involves performing a clitorectomy, including the removal of the labia. The tissues are then sewn together, leaving only a small hole for the flow of urine and menstrual blood. In many cases, a second procedure is necessary later to allow for sexual intercourse.

Short Term health effects - It has gone underground, at times with people who have had no medical training performing the cutting without anesthetic, sterilization, or the use of proper medical instruments. When performed without any anesthetic, can lead to death through shock from immense pain or excessive bleeding. The failure to use sterile medical instruments may lead to infections.

Long term health effects - urinary and reproductive tract infections, caused by obstructed flow of urine and menstrual blood, various forms of scarring and infertility. The first time having sexual intercourse will often be extremely painful, and infibulated women will need the labia major to be opened, to allow their husband access to the vagina. This second cut, sometimes performed by the husband with a knife, can cause other complications to arise. They will never achieve an orgasm.

These effects are basically the same in male circumcision; new borns are very really given an anesthetic for male circumcision. 1000's of boy's each year die from it. The US will never ban male circumcision they make far too much money out of it. Circumcision is a quarter-billion dollar a year industry in the US ALONE.

Well you have kind of touched on a few reasons in a roundabout way which is Traditional, Tribal Practices & Folklore etc. I don't believe that female circumcision can be condoned to support the theory of penis envy. F/C has been and still is the decision of a heirachrical person, always exclusively male. The female is not given a choice or say in the matter. It is said that a minority of females expect and accept this barbaric practise.

What hermaphroditism has to do with "infibulation" (femal castration, not circumcision)? Beside that "penis envy" is just Freud's theory and not even a well proved one, so I'm not sure it means a lot or a little to anybody, if ever.

Egyptians pharoahs were incestuous not ermaphrodites, also because nobody can choose to be ermaphrodite, since it is just a random genetic variation.

Few ideas but well scrambled

The mutation is to reduce/remove sexual pleasure for the female. It is to prevent the woman from seeking a sexual outlet outside marriage on the grounds that she will not enjoy sex with anyone. It is usually practiced in cultures which consider women to be nothing more than property. Moslems are a major follower of this practice.
