Hello, I am trying to understand how to solve these problems. For the first one I don't know what to do and al of my answers come out wrong. I am not good with fractions. For the Second one, I just don't know what to do. So please could you help me by showing what you did so I could get a better understanding of what to do. Thanks.

ok so for the first one since the denominaters in the first part of the equation are the same you can just add them across so that makes it 5v+7 over 6 + 1 over 12 so then you can multiply both sides by 6 and get 5v+7 = 1 over 2(6over 12 reduced to one half) then you can either clear the fraction or subtract 7 on both sides
-subtracting 7 on both sides - so far the problem is 5v + 7= 1 over 2 so you subtract 7 on both sides and put it over the denominator of two by multiplying it by 2 (you can do thisb ecause 14 over 2 equals 7) so then you have 5v = 1over2 + 14 over 2 then you add the fractions to get 16 over 2 which is 8 so the equation is 5v = 8 then divide by 5 on both sides and you get v = 8/5
2) first you add the four on both sides to get 2(p-7.5)=36 then distribute the 2 to get 2p-15=36 then add the 15 to get 2p = 51 and get p = 51/2

First, you make everyting over 12.
Next, you subtract both sides of the equation by 14/12
Third, you multiply each side by 12
Next, you divide each side by 10.
Once you have the isolated variable, you should get v = -1.3

1) 5v/6 + 7/6 = 1/12
10v/12 + 14/12 = 1/12
- 14/12 -14/12
10v/12 = -13/12
X 12/1 X 12/1
10v = -13
/10 /10
v = -1.3 correct!!!

First, add both sides by 4
Next, divide both sides by 2
then, add both sides by 7.5
Once you isolate the variable, you should get p = 25.5

2) 2(p-7.5)-4=32
+4 +4
2(p-7.5) = 36
/2 /2
p-7.5 = 18
+7.5 +7.5
p = 25.5 Correct

Remember that when doing these kind of equations, its best to do reverse order of operations to isolate the variable. Also, notice that I did the oppisite of the operation for the problem.

Try plugging in my answers to check. Good luck with these problems!

1) 5v/6 + 7/6 = 1/12 multiply the whole equation by 12 to remove the denominator

you will get:
10v+14=1 move all constant terms to the right side of the equation

10v=1-14 14 becomes negative because we move it to the other side

10v=-13
divide by 10 to get the value of v
v=-13 over 10 (-13/10)

2) 2(p-7.5)-4=32
distribute

2p-15-4=32 move constant terms to the right
2p=32+15+4
2p=51
divide it by 2 to get the value of p
p= 25.5 or 51 over 2

I hope you understand this well.

1) 5v/6 + 7/6= 1/12 first find a common denominator. Like 12. That makes 10v/12 + 14/12=1/12. Subtract 14/12 from both sides. 10v/12=-13/12 Now multiply by 12. 10v=-13 then divide by 10. v=-13/10

2) Add 4 to both sides then divide both sides by 2 (p-7.5=18). Now add 7.5 to both sides to get p=25.5

1) 5v/6 + 7/6 = 1/12
-7/6 + 5v/6 + 7/6 = 1/12 + -7/6
5v/6 = -13/12
6/5 x 5/6v = -13/12 x 6/5
v= -13/10
v= -1 3/10

2(p-7.5)-4=32
2(p+-7.5)+-4=32
2p + -15 + -4 =32
2p + -19= 32
19 + 2p +-19 = 32 + 19
2p= 51
p= 25.5

(i think, i juss learned this too)

1) first, add 6+7, which equals 13, then multipy 5v over 13 by 1 over 6 which is 5v over 48
so, you should have 5v/48=1/12
cross cancel
so 5v(12)=48(1)
60v=48
v=48/60
=4/5
2) factor 2 into p-7.5
so you get 2p-15-4=32
2p=51
p=51/2

hope these are right :)

5V/6 + 7/6 = 1/12
Your common denominator is 12
So 10V/12 + 14/12 = 1/12
Multiply by 12
10V + 14 = 1
10V = 1 - 14
10V = -13
V = -13/10

2(p - 7.5) - 4 = 32
2p - 15 - 4 = 32
2p - 19 = 32
2p = 51
p = 51/2
p = 25.5
Hope this helps.

Ok.

1. You did not stake it correctly. It could be (5v/[6+7])/6 = 1/12

Or it could be 5v/([6+7]/6) = 1/12

2. first multiply. 2p - 15 -4 = 32

2p = 32 + 4 + 15
2p = 51
p = 25.5
