Can WII play DVDs?

At this time, the Wii cannot play DVD's or cd's. If it did, the wii would have cost more the $249.99. :(

There is some new software available for the wii (in the uk) its called X-OOM and it enables you to format dvd's to an sd card and play them on your Wii. If you look on play.com, they are selling it for about Â£10 (I think)

no, unless you install a MOD chip, which voids your warrenty and is too much of a hassle
