If you can't talk to your mom , can you talk to your Aunt or another female in your family about it. Eventually you need to let your mom know, yes it's embarrassing but she is the one who is going to end up having to buy the tampons for you anyway.

Why are you so uncomfortable talking with your mom about your period? She had to start HER period in order to get pregnant with you, so why would you be uncomfortable? If she's not a good mom, then go to a female adult that you DO trust and get them to take you to the store and get you some. Don't freak out. Why would you be sneaking tampons and not be talking to your mom? If you need to use the for cheerleading then why not tell your mom? I don't know how at 13 you can handle wearing tampons unless you've already had sex, and maybe THAT is why you don't want to tell your mom and you're sneaking from your aunt.....if that's the case then you need to fess up.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I am also 13 and my mom just moved 6 hours away 2 months ago. My period started a week after she left...lucky me.....the problem is that i have to talk with my dad!!!! not a pretty sight. I called my mom (im comfortable with her) and she gave me all the details. i can help you now. ok you can e-mail at melissa_blondie11@yahoo.com please e-mail me! ask all your questions.
next time you go to the store with you mom/aunt or whoever just casually walk over and grab a box of tampons. make sure to get the same type and size you have been using. if the ones you have been using are uncomfortable, try regular playtex gentle glide. they are awsome! just randomly put them in the cart. if ur mom asks why you got those just reply "oh because i like them better than pads" leave it at that. She may start to be miss talk about everything right then. If she does, just say, yes i know, ive already used them. she should kinda get the point by then. if ur more comfortable with yor aunt, then ask/talk to her.
remember that they both went through this and more than likly your moms just as scared talking to you s you are to her!!!
remember to e-mail me!

They do make the 'slim' kind for teenagers. I believe Playtex, or Tampax makes them. You can use them and they are made for 'virgins'. I don't mean to embarrass you, but that is the reason they made these so that the young gals can also use them comfortably.
Talk with your mom. Tell her that since you have Cheerleading, and you have to wear the spankies, you need the tampons because sanitary napkins can and will move underneath and that will be so embarrassing and mortifying to you. She's got to understand this. If not, then she's not a very good listener to your needs. If you were my daughter, I would totally understand. You do need to talk to her though ok?

I'm the same age as you and i went threw the exact same thing with my mom but instead of cheer leading it was dance my advice is to face your fear and to just ask your mom to get you your own tampons tell her you need some tampons for cheer leading and that's it or else she will probably get into this big speech about you getting older or try to explain your period to you just ask for them and make it seem like you arent nervous

At this point, you need to start talking with your mom. Make her realize you are growing up, and trying to make decisions. Let her know that you have friends that have been using tampons, and you tried them from your friends, and you'd be more comfortable with them, rather than the pads. Otherwise, you can go and buy them herself.

You wish you could talk to your mom. She probably feels the same way. If you cant say it directly to her try writing a letter. This gives your mom the chance to discuss it more with you. Evan if she doesn't use this opportunity it is a good idea for her to be aware that you have started menstruating. Good luck and hugs.

I'm not sure why you're uncomfortable talking with your mother about this, but unless you have your own income, she's the one buying the tampons and pads so she's going to have to know eventually. Do you think you could sit her down and tell her that you're started your period, you know what to do, and you'd rather not discuss it? Would that work?
