A cbr125 is a four stroke bike which will do around 70mph. Its a very light and quite skinny bike, so a lot would depend on the weight of the rider too.
Older 2 stroke 125s were generally faster, I had a Kawasaki ar125 and a Yamaha tzr125, these both whipped the pants of my friends cbr125 despite being over 10 years older! (My tzr used to top out at 92mph..completely standard bike!)
The Cagiva mito is a pretty fast bike as its modelled on the Ducati, although its very pricey and can be a pain to get parts for.
As its your first bike, Im sure the CBR will be fast enough, you are unexperienced and very young and need lots of practice before even thinking about getting anything faster!
Good luck, be safe!

If you live in the UK, the 250 is NOT an option for a first bike. Above the age of 17 with a provisional licence and CBT you can only ride a bike upto 125cc with no more than 14.6bhp. As for your original question, the attainable topspeed that it'd be comfy at would be around 65/70mph. Before you buy the bike, take into consideration the cost of things. You'll need; 1. Provisional Licence - £50 2. CBT - Around £120 depending on the school 3. A Helmet - Prices vary from around £50 for something worth buying 4. Protective gloves - Upwards of £30 for something good 5. Protective, above-ankle-height boots - Around £50+ 6. Armoured jacket and trousers - £120+ 7. Insurance - £250 upwards depending on policy, bike, riding history etc... With kit, it all matters about the fit. If a £500 helmet doesn't fit correctly then it will not protect you to it's best in an acccident. Go to a local bike shop and try on lots of different lines, brands and products and find which ones fit you the best for your budget. Don't worry, bike shops understand how important kit is so they'll just advise you on the best kit you could buy for your budget. Failing that, with the exception of your helmet which must be bought new, you could always look online and in newspaper ads/carboot sales/markets for 2nd hand kit. You can pick up some real bargains on decent kit so keep your eyes peeled ;) If you want a faster bike, it'd always be good to look into getting your full bike licence. That ay you could ride any size bike (there is a power restriction of 33bhp if you're under 21 years of age). Bigger bikes are better suited to doing long distances as you could cruise at 70mph easily but still have some power and speed left in reserve if you want to up the pace or overtake something else. 125s are good as a door into motorcycling, but they aren't all that good for long distances. My 125 was brilliant around town and on a quick run-out within 50miles of my house, but on the open road they can get very annoying as you're not going all that fast...and motorways? forget it really, even with a full licence - I did about 10 miles on the motorway a day after I passed my test on my 125 and hated every second! It was sooooooo dangerous + scary and the speed dropped to around 55mph so I even had trucks overtaking me when I was flat out! Good luck and ride safe --Mikey B--

lol, 120km/h on a 125 cc? These guys are really ambitious, maybe you might hit 120 km/h on a downhill but then climb hills with 70km/h. On a serious note, riding on a highway with a small bike is dangerous, when you come across opposing heavy trucks, there's this sudden wind mixed with dust that hits you really hard and you can easily have a really bad week... also when there is strong winds (say about 30 knots), then you have to ride at around 50 km/h to avoid falling... Get yourself a 250 cc and you should be o.k

Its about 60-70 depending on rider and road conditions (namely hills)

If your looking for performance then this isnt the bike for you, I had a Aprilia RS125 and one of my friends had a new(at the time) CBR125 and basically the Aprilia P*ssed allover it (aprilia did about 95-105 clock speed and his did about 75 clock speed)

BUT.... on the other hand he didnt have to keep getting picked up by a garage because his engine had thrown a piston or the powervalve had dropped into the engine and so on.... the CBR is reliable and good if you dont want to be messing around with repair bills.

But In my personal opinion I would rather have a RS125 or a Cagiva Mito anyday........ the standing in the cold at the side of the road waiting for the recovery truck was all made worth it when you got back on the bike and twisted the throttle......

Ride Safe

This is a loaded question as theoretically the bike should do 80 MPH but the variables are too great to give an honest answer just take it out to a track yourself to see,PLEASE not on the streetas we would not like to see you end up as a statistic somewhere.

The article that I read said the beastie did 110 kph with the reviews large backside in the saddle but he said that you wouldn't want to go on the 401 with it.
