"After the Sixth Game" by Peter Gammons. It's an older book from 1984, it revolved around the Red Sox as it dealt with all the changes that took place in baseball at that time with free agency, the strike of 1981, their collapse in 1978, etc.

david halberstam compiled a book called the greatest sports journalism in the world or something like that and there are great red sox stories in there.. an excellent one about tony c and one about teddy ballgame... he also has one called teammates about pesky, dom, and doer going to see ted.... don't read shaunnasey his book sucks!

It depends, what do you want to know about the Red Sox??? Do you want to know their history??? You want to know about particular players??? What is your interest in the Red Sox??? Are you a baseball fan or are you trying to get involved in the game???
