It may have only been the end of the exhibition season, but Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was in mid-season form. "I still don't think they (Cavaliers) beat us, we beat ourselves," Wallace said. "And I think we also fell victim to that personal NBA thing where they are trying to make it a world game and get (television) ratings. They wanted to put their darling in there (the NBA Finals) and they did, and look what ended up happening. "This game ain't basketball anymore, it's entertainment," Wallace said. "It's starting to get like the WWF. There ain't no real wrestling anymore either. It's all fake."

He’s right cuz lebrons performance in game 5 was all camera tricks, and then boobie going crazy in game 6 that never happened either. The Detroit pistons won the Eastern Conference Finals, and Rasheed never got ejected in game 6. nope that never happened either. Its all just a big SCAM!

I don’t understand how someone can say the league wanted the cavs to be in the finals soo that the reason they were. How can someone plan out 12 playoff games… I think the freakin Spurs/ Suns series was more controversial. I think Rasheed needs to bring all he’s got this season, cuz the cavs are taken him down.

Like I've always said Lebron is a good player...

he is not a great player like the media, ESPN and the league has portrayed him. He is a media darling and they wanted him to get there to bring more ratings and eventually make more money

Rasheed is somewhat right

- Detroit did beat themselves like how the Lakers beat themselves against Detroit in 04 finals. there were some chemistry issues and the team was totally unfocused. If these teams didn't have any unneccessary over the top distractions they would've whooped the other team (Detroit over CLE last year and LA over Detroit in 04 finals)

Lebron gets several calls his way to go during the regular season and the playoffs and gets away with traveling and stuff...the refs treat him like a KING on the court.

Now the 48 point game was absolutely stunning...part of that can be blamed on the Detroit coaching staff for not instructing its players to doubling Lebron whenever he caught the ball. When he penetrated into the lane, the double teams were either late or Lebron just got off the shot before they could affect his dribble or shot.

He didn't have 2 or 3 guys hanging on him when he was dribbling (ESPECIALLY IN CRUNCH TIME). HE didn't have defenders right on top of his face contesting his shots

The Cavs played a legit championship team in San Antonio and got manhandled and got swept

If the Cavs were in the west, they wouldn't even make the playoffs

If the Cavs went up against any of the 8 teams in the West that made the playoffs, they would get beat in a 7 game set against all of them

Yeah you're right about the Spurs, the NBA wouldn't have let them go to the Finals if they didnt rake ratings.

But the first statement of the Pistons beating themselves, I agree to that. And its all because of Flip Saunders. This Detroit team had every chance to pull away from the Cavs. They had better depth, a better bench, a more proven system, and they still got beat. Sheed should just plain out say that Saunders should be fired, and maybe hire Larry Brown back (without his anger toward rookies).

Rasheed is right, he does fly off the handle sometimes, but he makes valid points. There is no way that Clevland was better than Detroit last year, it was all to get Lebron in the finals. This happens all the time with the NBA and they try to get their stars in big games and to look good. Glad someone spoke up about it.

I think the Cavs deserved to be in the final because of
their play. But I also think Rasheed was pointing out
the fact that NBA is starting to make more decisions
based on revenue and not about basketball.

If you notice all the floping that is going on in the NBA
its mostly the foreign players. Anderson of Cavs and
Ginoblli of SPURs. Also SPURs and CAVs had
international players on the team, and Stern is looking
to get money from oversea markets.

So merchandising and tv money is starting to impact
the league. before it was big cities like Boston and
lakers that were in the finals, now its team with
international players.

Also if a crooked ref does not make you realize the
game is not being called fairly, then nothing will.

Superstars like Magic, and Bird always got the
calls, because they league wants them to be on the
floor and be noticed. they hardly fouled out.

He may not have said it well, but he is saying what many players have whispered for years.....many of the refs may be real dirty. If Stern has shown anything over the past several months is the double-standard he has in dealing with players and referees when league rules are violated. A player violates a rule, it just may be the end of the world as we know it (and the rules may be tightened up)....refs violate rules on gambling and Stern says the NBA code of conduct is antiquated and taps them on their wrists. That is the message the players see...and Wallace is reacting to the reality in Stern's World.

it does make sense, maybe the the NBA fault, but the ref who making the bets are calling alot of stupid fouls on the piston.

if it was a NBA set up, they would have put
Suns vs Cleveland/Piston in the finals

evan if the nba wanted the cavs to get in (which they didnt) theres not much they can do about it.

HEY GUY ABOVE ME!!!!! youre an idiot. half of the refs in the league were caught just doing stuff like playing blackjack and slot machines. only 1 has been caught throwing games.

He's got a point

With half of the NBA's refs shaving points and betting on games who's to say who's telling them what to do

Sports are somewhat of a sham now ...
