volume = length x breadth x height

that is me assuming you have a cuboid fish tank.

if it is a sphere- volume=4/3¶r3

that funny thing being pii (3.141592654)

r is the radius of the sphere... so this probably isnt helping much

the 3 is actually meaning that the radius is multiplied by itself 3 times.

r x r x r

PeeTee is right on, he deserves the 10 points. Just be sure you use the "inside" measurements to multiply times each other. 231 is the cubic inches of a gallon of water.

If it is a rectangular prism, multiply the the length times width times height. v=lwh

In other words, the length of one side, the length of another side (of different length), and the height.
