It's the name of a skanky stripper in a low class strip club.

It would be a horrible name to give a child. I once knew a bartender (really!) named Champagne. Even given how appropriate her name was for her profession, she detested her "stripper" name. (Her term, not mine, but I can't disagree.)
Original is great. My name is pretty unusual. And nouns or places as names can work - Eden, Story, India, Journey. Names from myth and lesser known saints are great, too - Andromeda, Aurora, Endellion, Leocadia.
But when a name is loaded with R-rated associations, it's just not child-friendly. Tequila is something that we all do too many shots of on spring break and grow up to regard with wary hesitation.
It might be a pretty word, but your kid would be tortured for it. A very, very few kids could carry off such an unusual, exotic name, but you've no guarantee your kid will have such an outgoing personality. You can't name them into it, either.
Give them a name that won't make others eyeballs pop out of their sockets when your child is introduced.

i understand that you want it to be original and don't mean to refer to the liquor but whenever I hear "tequila" I think of either tila tequila (an awful person to name your kid after) or the liquor (imagine a kindergarten teacher reading the class list for the first time)
overall, not a good idea

I think its ugly. I would never name my child that. It is a type of liquor so I would avoid it unless you don't mind your child being teased because mommy thought hard liquor made for a cute baby name

I think it would be a very bad name to saddle a child with - it's association IS with liquor and there's no way around that - this kid would have to deal with jokes and unfair associations for the rest of her life.

It's pretty. But really, people do associate it with liquor so it might not be a good choice.

i don't like it either, even though you may not mean it as the liquor, thats probably what everybody else is going to think when they see or hear it...and even though YOU might like it, the baby may not like once she gets older, its a name that could always get a teasing/weird reaction

I'd be embarrassed if it was my name, because even though you mean well, people will always associate it with liquor. you don't want people assuming she is skanky, when she is really a sweet girl.
