Which African country did the majority of slaves come from?

I know in general West Africa but I was wondering if anyone knew specific countries. I am interested in learning more about my African hertiage. Its a shame that I know more about the white side of my family (which, frankly, I could care less about, afterall, those were the same individuals that enslaved my family) than the black side! Any help would be much appreciated!

I read a book about this years ago, unfortunately cannot remember the author or title. Apparently in the earlier slave trading period, most slaves came from the area bordering the Gulf of Guinea taking in the modern day countries from Senegal in the N to about Gabon in the S. Later, as the trade expanded slaves were brought from the African interior further East. The the area now called The Central African Republic was practically depopulated by slavers, and still has not recovered to this today.
The Arabs captured slaves from sub-Saharan Africa, Chad, Sudan and W Africa Kenya and Tanzania. A few of these laves may have ended up in the Americas as well.

maximum Slaves in North usa and area of the Caribbean have been from West Africa. yet those in South usa and in all probability the Dominican have been from Angola, Congo ( a French conversing colony) and the Island of Madagascar. stable success eh?

Countries have changed borders and names since then, but many came from what is now Nigeria, as well as the smaller countries just south of there.

The Portuguese did alot of raiding and trading of slaves!!!!!
