I called it a boobie until my friends said they've never heard that before and that they just call it a hook thingie.

Clasp, Claw, Clip, Connector, there are many names but these are the most common.

There are different kinds. I like lobster claws, but those aren't "hanging" types. Just research it on Google.com. That should help you.
