Yeah, I just drove the other way, from Columbus, OH to Phoenix, AZ (Glendale), with 2 cats. I know some hotels are pet friendly, although I opted to drive straight through the entire drive. It's a rough trip with animals, and they can get on your nerves! Just make sure they have plenty of food and water. Make frequent stops so they can go to bathroom. My cat peed all over my leg in St. Louis.
Your pets can make very memorable experiences for you, if you don't take care of them!

As long as the weather is decent...low 90's upper 80's the dogs will be fine...just make sure they have plenty of water and the windows are open...too many die in Arizona because of the heat in the car. There are many hotels that are accommodating to pets but the best for just hopping off the road and staying one night when your dogs are Comfort Inn's I think they all take pets. I know that most Sheraton's do too, but you should have a reservation with them. Have a wonderful trip.
