I went to an autoshop and the clerk told me that I can add seafoam into the air intake hose (the large, acordian like hose that connects from my air filter box to my engine). Is this true? Do I absolutely have to use the vacumn line and if so, where is it? I have a 2000 Chevy Prizm.

I have also heard that you can add the whole can at a time but I am nervose about this. I think it sounds smarter to add half a can at a time and repeat the whole procedure a second time on with the rest of the can.

You can do this two ways. One being just add it to the gas tank, don't follow the instructions just make sure you have at least a half tank of gas. Then drive normal. As for the other way, the use of a vacuum line. This is a little harder and the reason you use a vacuum line is to suck the Seafoam out of the can. Using the hose they mentioned sounds to me like its the wrong one. That should be the breather tube for the engine. There is a third way but its not user friendly and should be performed by a reputable mechanic. My suggestions, put it in the tank. But my question is why did they say you needed it ???
