My husband and I moved into our first house about a year and a half ago. Our next door neighbor is nice, but somewhat annoying. Lately, he has been mentioning about how I need to rake his yard because the leaves are from our tree. Maybe I'm abnormal, but I don't mind leaves in our yard, so I don't even rake my own. I don't feel like it's my duty to rake his yard either. What do you all think?

No and don't put yourself in that position. Then he'll have you shoveling snow because your snow came to his yard too. That is just ridiculous that he would even ask such a thing from you.

Wow, I can't believe he would even ask you to rake his yard? I guess the real question is how important it is to you that he likes you? Personally, I'd find a way to tell him politely that leaves fall, the wind blows and you can't be cleaning up the whole neighborhood!

You have an idiot for a neighbor so he will continue to be problematic. Trees grow and encompass space on others properties. Usually your responsbility is about limbs not leaves. He is your neighbor and you have to work something out with him but he is going to be a nut about everything. He will have to rake the leaves on his property unless he wants to pay you to take down the tree.

No, they are not your leaves; they're on his side now.
It sounds like he's a fastidious fuss-budget, & also lazy.
It isn't your fault the wind blew that way.

Some people rake their leaves & bag them at the curb.
I mulch my leaves & grass clippings, to feed my lawn.
That is, by driving my lawn mower over them on high.
If you let them lie, they'll mat up & kill the grass next year.

No, of course not. If he is so peeved about those leaves, he should rake them himself. Who knows? They could be his and he's trying to weasel out from hard work.
