World champions in almost any other sport actually means champions of the world--competing against the worlds nations, and not just state to state in one country. Who came up with the title of "World series"?

When the term "World's Championship Series" was first used in the 1880s, baseball at a highly-skilled level was almost exclusively confined to North America, especially the United States. Thus it was understood that the winner of the major league championship was the best baseball team in the world. The title of this event was soon shortened to "World's Series" and later to "World Series"..

It's called the World Series, because players from the 2 teams come from all around the world.

You have to stop ignoring the history of the game when thinking about such questions.

There were only US teams when the idea of a "world" series came about. Since then a lot of other countries have begun to play baseball, but very few follow the exact same rules that are used in the US.

It would be good if it could be truly turned into a true world series, but it would require coming up with some compromise rules that could be agreed on by all the other nations that play the game. And you would always have the problem of full time professionals playing against teams that are semi-pro in nature when compared to the US.

Because MLB is the best league in the world. Name a baseball league in the world that is better than MLB. The same goes for the NFL and NBA. That is why you win a world championship in those leagues. Soccer is a different story. The USA is far from having the best soccer league in the world, so that term would not fit in that case.

First, Toronto Blue Jays are not located in the US. Second, each team has a melting pot of players from various countries around the world so in effect it is a "World Series." We have players from Japan, Korea, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Cuba etc.

Do you realize how many times this question has been asked and the number of people responding who don't seem to be smart enough to understand the Toronto Blue Jays are based in Canada? So if they were to make it, kinda blows your theory huh?

Not only did they make it, but won it in both 1992 and 1993. Why don't you go learn some more about the history of the game.
