Lie detectors can be fooled by anyone of reasonable intelligence.
They ask control questions to establish what your normal relaxed and 'telling the truth' measurements are. If you can peak those questions, when asked a question you need to lie about just don't peak those ones and 'hey presto' you beat the system.
Do people really believe that the Portugese Police didn't search for the kid ?
Hiding a body of a child in a foreign country and finding a location to dispose of it where you will not get discovered isn't easy.

No because if it says the McCanns were lying, then we would get rubbish about how they weren't effective; and if they showed them to be telling the truth, it would be considered as 'definitive proof.' They aren't admissible in a court of law anyway, and the McCanns knew this when they offered to take one, i.e. they knew they wouldn't have to.

If such a thing existed, that would be a great idea but lie detector tests are very inacurate (they give an indication but no more) and are used to get people to talk because they think it works, not to detect lies.

It isn't allowed as it can't be used in court.Apparently, the PJ can do one but,it wouldn't be used as evidence. But,as you can see,why the need for lie detectors when you got a professional body language expert like Julia doing the job for them.Thank goodness for that eh?

Simple answer to your question Lie detectors are not accepted in a court of law as evidence. It would not prove or disprove their guilt or innocence.

Why don't you communicate your suggestions to the Portuguese police instead of putting them on Yahoo Answers?
