The drug war is a war against ALL drugs not sanctioned by the Pharmaceutical companies who pay monies to our politicians. That includes medicinal Marijuana for dying cancer patients. More money is spent fighting against Pot than any of the real hard drugs that are killing people everyday. That's why the war on drugs is failing. All the effort is in the wrong place. Make sure your candidate for '08 addresses these issues.

I assume you are talking about the US "War on Drugs". It is a Federal government initiative to fight against the importation, distribution, selling and use of illicit drugs.

There are a number of State and Federal agencies fighting against drugs, but there is also one US agency that is highly active in the trade at all levels, the CIA.

The CIA has been involved with drugs since 1946 (while still the OSS) and has been associated with the Italian Mafia continuously since 1943 when a US Navy Lt. Commander approached the Mafia bosses in prison for assistance with the US invasion of Sicily. The CIA has also been associated with the (French) Corsican Mafia since 1946 in France, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia until 1975, often flying the Opium on Air America flights. It has also been active with the Nationalist Chinese Kuonmingtang soldiers in Northern Burma following the Communist expelled the Nationalists in 1949 (most fled to Taiwan). The CIA has also been involved with the Right-wing dictatorships in South America which have used the Cocaine trade as part of their financing.

So, while most of the US is trying to fight the drug trade, one major part of the US government is actively engaged in the trade. ==== A Stalemate===

War about how many ways the government can take the drugs that they put / allow in certain neighborhoods.
Sell it to you, arrest you for selling it, while they take a portion of it to stash away for retirement, just to sell it to you again. That's their way of good / bad business.

You see the signs that read:
SCHOOL ZONE or DRUG FREE ZONE or SLOW DOWN CHILDREN PASSING ZONE or DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE ZONE or NO SMOKING ZONE.

It was "declared" for a lot of well-intended reasons but apparently its major affect has been as an excuse to increase the power of the federal government by trashing Constitutional rights.

It's an Outdated Concept dreamed up by Our Government- to "prove" to the American People that it is "doing something" to combat drug usage in this Country... In other words, it's a, "War without end...".

Its a war against drug dealers who sell drugs that kill thousands of people a year. They (the dealers and suppliers), should all be tried for attempted murder when arrested.
