candy canes....and make your popcorn strings with fruit loop cereal interspaced with the popcorn...has a candy-like look to it and far less messy than cranberries....little mini lollipops with tiny red ribbons or red yarn tied in a bow on the stick.
Have Fun....

Buy a wide variety of ornaments. Have some of them be music or sports related(if you are into those things), or buy Christmas related ornaments, like a nutcracker ornament.

Every year, along with a million other things, I put strings of beads on my tree. You can pick these up at a local Christmas store.

I'd recommend getting multi-colored lights. They add more "pizzazz" to the tree.

I did a vintage "kitchen" theme tree last year that turned out really cute. I had gingerbread cookies, vintage cookie cutters that were hung with loops of raffia, and the best part was old recipe cards with my Gram's Christmas cookie recipes that I just kind of propped up on the branches. Whatever you choose will be great. Have fun!

Make a popcorn and cranberry garland by stringing them onto dental floss, heavy thread, or string.

The red and while will complement the brown gingerbread & green tree!

Oh, yes, bows and popcorn, definitely. Get lights that look like candles. Use strings of beads instead of tinsel. Hang some decorated fake fruits, too (not too many).

And nestle small presents in the branches come Christmas morning...

The red bows are a good idea. My family puts candy canes on the christmas tree. Of course there wrapped and on christmas day, while we are opening gifts, we get alot so it takes awhile to open them, we take our time, and we eat them. When we are opening gifts and throughout the day. Hope I helped.
