Is Etsy.com a good website to sell crafts on?

Is Etsy.com a good website to sell crafts on? I've had 3 items on there for a few days now and no one has even bought 1 thing. I'm selling crocheted bags which go over well with the people I directly sell them to. Is there any other websites that I can sell on other then Ebay?

Hi. I make jewelry and teach jewelrymaking at local bead stores. I listen to what other jewelry designers do, and many of them have had success on Etsy.com. I know one who sells her polymer clay beads and she seems to be doing well. Her items are priced high due to the labor involved, and it does take awhile for some items to sell.

I have my own website and tried to sell my pieces from that. It took a lot of effort trying to get people to look at my site. I would advertise on other sites, word of mouth and submissions to Google.com and Yahoo.com. Usually, it was the people who already knew me in person who would just approach me in person to buy. Many people don't even like buying handcrafted items via the internet because they would rather buy things they can see in person.

E-bay was a disaster. You have to pay fees just to post things and despite getting people to look at my items, they didn't buy. E-bay was a waste of time.

I think Etsy.com is better than E-bay for handcrafted items because the people who look on Etsy.com look for handcrafted items specificly. People who look for handcrafted items on E-bay are expecting to find real bargains by bidding low. At least on Etsy.com, it is not an auction environment. The prices are fixed, and the items are up longer than E-bay. E-bay's auction limit is 10 days. Etsy.com gives you 4 months.

If you are still unsure about Etsy.com, then browse around and find other people on Etsy who sell similar items that you wish to sell. Contact them and ask them how they feel about Etsy.com.

It only costs you 20 cents to list one item with a quantity of 1. If you sell something, Etsy takes 3.5% of the sale price. Becoming a member of Etsy is free.

I like etsy a whole lot, I would rather buy crafts from there than ebay. In fact, i don't even look on ebay if I want something handmade. Its very reputable. just look at the site setup, its very inviting. I have heard good things about selling on there.

I am not familiar with Etsy.com.

I just typed in "websites to sell crafts" to search via aol and found several.

You may just have to search and research to find a site that works for you.

Have you tried ebay? I have enjoyed selling things there, but they have not been handmade crafts.

Etsy does not advertise, so the only customers you will get, are the other crafters who sell there.

I just run my own website and I get customers through the search engines.
