Cheney keeps repeating these lies and I wonder how many ignorant Americans still believe these GOP liars.

Any recent polls?

Pentagon report says no link between Saddam and Al-Qaeda
Fri Apr 6, 11:46 AM ET
WASHINGTON (AFP) -Interrogations of Saddam Hussein and seized documents confirmed the former Iraqi regime had no links with Al-Qaeda, a Pentagon report said Friday, contradicting the US case for the 2003 invasion.

According to the inspector general of the US Defense Department, information obtained after Saddam's fall confirmed the prewar position of the Central Intelligence Agency and Pentagon intelligence that the Iraqi government had had no substantial contacts with Al-Qaeda.
This position was shored up by interrogations of Saddam, the former Iraqi president and other top officials captured by the US-led coalition forces in Iraq, the report said.

It contradicts a strong argument for the invasion made by the administration of President George W. Bush

Bush stands by al Qaeda, Saddam link
Tuesday, June 15, 2004 Posted: 6:06 PM EDT (2206 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush repeated his administration's claim that Iraq was in league with al Qaeda under Saddam Hussein's rule, saying Tuesday that fugitive Islamic militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi ties Saddam to the terrorist network.

"Zarqawi's the best evidence of a connection to al Qaeda affiliates and al Qaeda," Bush told reporters at the White House. "He's the person who's still killing."

U.S. intelligence officials have said al Qaeda had some links to Iraq dating back to the early 1990s, but the nature and extent of those contacts is a matter of dispute.

Critics have accused the president and other administration officials of falsely inflating the links between Iraq and al Qaeda in the months before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

Senate report: No Saddam, al-Qaida link
Long-awaited analysis also finds that anti-Saddam group misled U.S.

Updated: 3:31 p.m. ET Sept 8, 2006
WASHINGTON - There’s no evidence Saddam Hussein had ties with al-Qaida, according to a Senate report issued Friday on prewar intelligence that Democrats say undercuts President Bush’s justification for invading Iraq.

Bush administration officials have insisted on a link between the Iraqi regime and terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Intelligence agencies, however, concluded there was none.

I find the number of Americans who still think that Iraq was connected to 9/11/ had WMD/ had terrorist connections ,unbelievable.Their theory about how Saddam sneaked his WMD into Syria because he knew the US was about to invade.is a joke .If he`d had any he would have used it ,any country would under those circumstances .
The people who insist the invasion was because of Saddam's massacre of the Kurds and to liberate the Iraqi people are even more deluded than the other lot .
Do any of them know when it was that Saddam was ordering .
all this killing
What really amazes me is how after Iraq, they`re swallowing the exact same story hook line and sinker about Iran
The US Governments "evidence " about Iran is even more questionable than the so called "evidence"they had about Iraq

With all due respect, it's actually you who are misinformed.

No one ever said that Sadam was responsible for 9/11. He also hated Al qaeda. We did not invade Iraq for either of those 2 reasons. This is simply recent History 101.

Anyway, yes it's true that Sadam did not have WMD, that's the one true point you made and it's a good one!!

Yes , we were totally wrong to invade Iraq to get WMD that didn't exist. BIG mistake!!

However, no one, I repeat no one, thought Sadam had any connection with 9/11. That's where so many people today are mixed up.

So, with respect to WMD & invading Iraq, yes, the GOP lied. However, almost every single person in Congress voted to invade Iraq, so everyone was at fault!!

Again, this is recent History 101, an area a lot of people are failing at.

No and in fact many were found. He had an Al Qaeda base in Iraq, offered them training and supported terrorists in general. Only someone incredibly lazy would seriously make these allegations that have zero basis in fact. Bush NEVER claimed Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

Since everyone admits there was not adequate intelligence how do you know? How does anyone know? If you read some of the actual Iraqi files taken after the fall of Baghdad you might not be so sure of yourself. This is about as solid evidence as anyone has.

The only ignorance is the people who don't realize that insurgents that are shooting and killing our boys over this are connected. Your for peace and love but not willing to fight for your freedom. And then have the balls to bash those who do. Do me a favor and hold your breath, you are wasting good oxygen.

That was the info passed to President Bush from Clinton's watered down intelligence community. If you are going to blame one you must blame all. And ricin IS considered a WMD. It kills people.

Of course Bush supporters realized that, its an old story. On the other hand, they refused to admit that their theory about Saddam link to WMD, Al-Qaeda and even 9/11 (its absurd, I know) is a complete prejudice and stupidity.

Since you held all the cards of knowing that there weren't any... shouldn't you be hauled to jail for allowing the war to happen by holding information??

GWB did not think that Iraq was behind 9/11. Maybe you forgot about our other war in Afghanistan? We went into Iraq because of violations to the cease-fire agreement of the Gulf War.

It wasn't just GWB that believed that there were WMDs in Iraq. He gets intelligence breifings all the time and they all pointed to Iraq having WMDs (and they, in fact, did have them). Many in Congress believed the intelligence as well.

Sigh...educating liberals is just useless. They don't care about facts or logical reasoning at all.
