Whats lacking is a center; a unifying soul. And no,a shopping mall is not a viable substitute. Despite all the ads, buying things is not a substitute for whats missing. Political, religious, and racial groups are pitted against one another. All too often its each man looking out for his own interests. As a whole,society is not whole, and what an incalculable loss this is to our present and future. .

Open-mindedness (also called tolerance & love), as evidenced by the numerous hate crimes and forms of discrimination.
Also, honesty. Recent research indicates that most job seekers make a habit of lying or making omissions on resumes.
Another sad research study shows that most people are willing to tell false, or exaggerated, gossip about others if we dislike them, and then justify it to ourselves by changing one's personal truth to match one's emotions.

Love and patience. Open-mindedness.
Just drive across time, you will see more people that aren't patient and don't live their neighbors. And people think that their way is the only way on political and social views as well. Sad.

freedom we are to worried about offending each other to be able to be ourselves and it is also hypocritical we say don't judge people on how they look and then we turn around and expect people to dress a certain way to be considered respectable.
