unfortunately, with the new epa guidelines in place, Harley had to really lean the new 96ci motors down. This robbed them of horsepower and torque. Harley won't even tell you the hp rating. I dyno'd my new '07 Ultra with the 96ci motor. In it's stock configuration, it produced 68 horsepower ( less than my TC88CI ). I changed out the stock mufflers to a set of Pythons, added a screaming eagle stage 1 kit, and a race tuner, then I set it up on the dyno and dialed it in, this setup gave me 23 more horsepower and brought the torque up to 90 ft pounds. It also let the engine run much cooler. After that I added an oil cooler and synthetic oil. Funny, but switching to synthetic picked up 2 more horsepower!! Next up is the big bore kit. Can't wait to see what it adds to the HP.

RE:
What is the horsepower of a Harley Davidson 96 cubic inch motor?
The motor displacement is listed as 96 (cubic inch) However, no one I have asked seems to know the horsepower it has.

I have a TC-88 and the stock HP is, according to the book, 79 ponies. My TC-88 has an S&S "E" model carb and SE II pipes. Get a bit more juice at the expense of gas mileage. The TC-96 makes about the same ponies, but more torque.
I don't need torque since I ride solo. With the new EPA regs out, the Motor Company had to do something so that the baggers could keep up with the cruisers. (I have an FXDWG, a cruiser. No bags, etc. Pic on my 360 site.)
I've looked at different sites, and the HP they mention for the new TC-96 is 79 (Stock TC-88 ponies.) to 82. The big difference they highlight is the torque. Most of the articles also mention the heat problem with the FI. (I would like to strangle the EPA the way they are strangling my favorite ride!)
Since the TC-96 is a new motor, you are going to have variations as H-D puts in place the little repairs and fixes they do over the life of the model of engine. I have a '99 TC, and it still has the chain cam drive. Only 50,000+ on it, but it's not as quick, or as reliable, as when it was new.
For full specs on the new bikes go to: www. Harley-Davidson.com. That is the official web site of the Motor Company. The page should show up all black, with orange highlights, the old H-D colors.
Hope you get what you need. Ride safe, Ciao!
P.S. HP on the 1200 was about 65-68, not the 1450.

The newer Harley motors I believe are around 80 in their stock configuration. If it's an older modified motor it would depend on what you have in it. My S+S 96" dyno'd at 101hp with a super "G" shorty carb.
